Joseph Drapell:
RE-INVENTING LANDSCAPE

Open from October 29, 2022 to November 26, 2022

“Exhibiting art is not always a commercial act;
it can be an act of war against conventional forces
to honor the living art of the past”.
Joseph Drapell 2022

“Drapell has become a towering figure…
Today he stands as one of the greatest masters of our age.”
Kenworth W. Moffett, the first Curator of Contemporary Art, Boston Museum of Fine Arts, 2004

Joseph Drapell believed in his potential to make a contribution to the
art of painting. Five years after escaping the Soviet occupation, Drapell
visited Georgian Bay and found it to be his spiritual home. It influenced
all his art. The following critics have written about his contribution:
Ronald Nasgaard, Karen Wilkin, Donald Kuspit, Ken Carpenter,
K.W.Moffett, Walter Klepac and Mathew Kyba among others.

Joseph Drapell’s works can be found in private and public Canadian and international collections such as the The Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum, the Art Gallery of Ontario, the National Gallery, Prague, and Albright-Knox Art Gallery.
